An Honest Review of Birch Box: Is it worth it?

I am a BEAUTY product & sample fanatic! Sephora's check out line with all the sample size products get me, every single time. Surely, I would love BirchBox who does all the gathering of samples for me & sends them to my frond door.

Admittedly, I did not seek out a BirchBox subscription myself. My husband gifted me a 3 month subscription for mother's day. I logged in that very day to set up my profile & take the "likes" survey, where they try to gauge your likes/interests to "customize" products for you.

The process was simple, and the first box arrived 2 weeks later. I hated it.

Hate is a strong word, but I felt it was appropriate for this review. Here's 5 reasons why I will not continue my subscription after the 3 month period.

  1. It does not truly allow for customization.

  2. It feels like the samples they send are samples left over from Sephora/Ulta (I once received a liquid IV sample, that costs $1.99 at my local CVS)

  3. The menu of the full products is bland and everything is around $20.00 - $50.00 for the full-size, which I could have just went and bought instead of shelling out $45/3 mos to get a sample size.

  4. The full size products they do include do not justify the price.

  5. There's no follow up after ordering.

While it might be a good option for someone who is new to the beauty product world and isn't quite sure where to begin, for someone who spent their entire paychecks as a young adult at Sephora & Ulta I don't feel as though I get enough value from their subscription.
